South Sudan top officials appealed to medical specialists living abroad to return home and offer their services to the new nation.

GoSS minister of Labour and Human Resources Awut Deng told participants at the first conference of medical specialists today that the government spends a lot of money on hearth treatments abroad.

She added that the practice should stop after independence and called upon doctors in the diaspora to return to South Sudan and provide specialized health care to the local people.

Madam Awut said the call was challenging but could be overcome with determination.

GoSS Vice President Riak Machar Teny told the doctors in the diaspora that the time arrived for them to return to South Sudan.

He added that there were more rewards in South Sudan than abroad and doctors could also engage in teaching and private medicine.

He urged the specialists to look at their return in terms of nationalist goals.

The two-day conference was attended by only eleven specialists from the Diaspora.
