Warrap state is to produce more food through the hard work of local farmers and proper use of four tractors given two years ago to the Farmers Union.

Agriculture Minister Kuot Mawien said he came with some of his staff to Greater Tonj to convey the call made by Governess Nyandeng Malek of Warrap state to local farmers to engage in agriculture, Don Bosco FM reported.

The minister said that the governor asked locals to increase food and cash crops production to excess levels.

Mr. Mawien said that the ministry of agriculture is always ready to support farmers with seeds, extension services like advice and management of crops till yielding time.

He added that the ministry plans to give tractors services to farmers willing to engage in commercial agriculture.

Mr. Mawien complained that the four tractors given to the Farmers Union were still packed.

He said it was ridiculous to keep the tractors packed without using them.

Mr. Mawien noted that the delayed rains should not discourage farmers.
