The Sudan Council of Churches resolved to remain united for a period of two years under new structures during its General Assembly.
SCC secretary general Ramadan Chan read the resolutions which stated that the council’s headquarters in Khartoum will be retained throughout the transitional period.The 18th general assembly formed a five-people task force to work on the proposed constitution amendments for the Republic of South Sudan.
The Assembly also endorsed Blue Nile region as SCC’s new region.
The SCC called upon the two states to respect, protect and guarantee minority rights including religious rights as enshrined in the interim constitutions.
