The three largest donor nations to Sudan met for a collaborative relationship in mobilizing regional and international support to advance south Sudan’s development.
UK, US and Norway make up the “troika”, which remains the largest donor to Sudan.
Dr. Rajiv Shah, US administrator, told reporters over the weekend that the troika met to coordinate their assistance and bring the international community into a single coordinated frame on how to provide assistance. The meeting also discussed ways that would allow people set and articulate their own priorities.
Dr. Shah said the meeting discussed to host a donor conference in September to allow donors and GoSS officials articulate their vision and allow donors table their approach to aid.
The meeting also discussed the importance of anti-corruption to allow transparency and effective government management in oil revenues.
Dr. Shah said the meeting also discussed the critical importance of private sector, saying that the government should prioritize the private sector since it is a source of development and employment opportunities.
