A painter based in Uganda launched a week-long exhibition yesterday in Juba at South Sudan Hotel that he believes will promote role and power of arts in community development.

Igala Justin told SCR News that there was power in all forms of art to communicate ideas of community development to the new state of South Sudan.

He said that art can facilitate the understanding of complicated development messages so that the communities can grasp them.

Mr. Justin added that one of the reasons for the exhibition was to demonstrate the power of art and also share experiences with South Sudanese artists in the field.

He urged painters in South Sudan to develop arts and crafts making industry because it is a source of employment.
