Yei River County primary health care director urged residents to support the national immunizations days in South Sudan.

Simon Loro said that during the struggle the vaccination campaigns were supported by various organizations including Operation Life Line Sudan, UNICEF and WHO, Easter Radio reported.

He added that the programme was handed to the GoSS ministry of health and citizens should own it themselves.

Mr. Loro said the new state should try its level best to eradicate polio through routine campaigns so that South Sudan is included among polio-free countries.

He announced that last year’s campaign targeted to vaccinate 80 percent of children under five years of age, but they immunized 87 percent in Yei River County.

Mr. Loro made these statements yesterday during the launching of another round of polio immunization.
