A UNICEF official said street children in Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei states are highly exposed to the on-going clashes between militia forces and the army.

Yasmin Haque told the press on Saturday that the government should prioritize education to reduce the number of children in the streets so that they are not exposed to insecurity.

She added that the schools should be attractive and friendly to the children.

Upper Nile state is said to have the largest number of street kids in South Sudan.

Clashes have left hundreds displaced in Upper Nile, Jonglei and Unity states in the past weeks.
