The UNICEF executive director said South Sudan is still the worst place for a child to be born.

Hilde Johnson said South Sudan high infant mortality rate is due to poor health facilities, immunization, sanitation and education.

Ms. Johnson said more should have been done in the last six years to support children issues.

She appealed to the new government to prioritize mother and child survival, health and education.

Ms. Johnson said UNICEF longs to see peace prevailing for children adding that kids suffer most whenever there is instability.
