A committee set up to investigate Eastern Equatoria treasury expenditure has completed its findings.
Eastern Equatoria Assembly deputy speaker Paul Napwon told Emmanuel Radio that state established the committee to investigate the treasury’s 2010 expenditure. He said the committee has already completed its findings and it is waiting for the parliament to reopen to disclose the results.
He said the investigation focused also on contracts that were awarded and paid for and never materialized during the previous administration.
Mr. Napwon said the acquisition and distribution of dura for the state strategic food reserves was also probed.
He said some politicians received thousands of bags of dura for free without any reason.
Mr. Napwon said the public should be eager to know the truth from the findings when MPs return to the House.
The deputy speaker was responding to a concern raised by former governor Emor Aloisio Ojetuk that the state should institute an investigation to find if there was mismanagement of state funds during his term of office.
Mr. Ojetuk said in a speech last week during a memorial mass for Gen. Emilio Taffeng that his name was being tainted and his close collaborators intimidated without cause.
