AID AGENCY PLEDGES TO CONTINUE SUPPORTING CHURCH PROJECTS IN SOUTH SUDAN

A development aid agency has pledged to continue supporting Church managed projects in South Sudan.

Claudia Vitt, the Sudan desk officer for DKA-Austria, told Good News Radio that she came to Rumbek Diocese to monitor and evaluate the projects supported by her organization.

Ms. Vitt said DKA-Austria supports many projects in Rumbek diocese in the fields of education, water and sanitation and ecological rehabilitation together with Good News Radio.

She added that the aid agency wants to continue to support the Church and other partners especially now that a new nation is about to be born.

Ms. Vitt added that DKA-Austria is supporting the ecological rehabilitation of Marial Lou hospital.

The Austrian official expressed appreciation to the people of South Sudan for carrying out a peaceful and successful referendum.

Ms. Vitt said people in Europe followed the events leading to the referendum keenly and that South Sudan is being looked at as a model for peaceful referenda and democratic decision making processes.

DKA-Austria supports projects in the fields of education, social, pastoral programmes and the protection and promotion of human rights including women issues.
