JUBA STUDENTS CELEBRATE REFERENDUM RESULTS

Hundreds of students took part in a two-hour long procession from Juba Commercial Secondary School to Dr John Garang Mausoleum to celebrate the referendum results.

Central Equatoria Director General of Higher Education David Lowela Lodu M√Ö¬°di said the celebration was organized to give thanks to God and to the martyrs who died during the struggle for South Sudan freedom.

He added that the people of South Sudan need to keep united in order to move forward.

Director General for Greater Equatoria, Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile Referendum Forum Taban James Dakada urged the people of South Sudan not to be complacent because of the referendum results.

He called on the citizens to work for peace and reconciliation from family to the wider society level.

Mr. James said he registered the Greater Equatoria, Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile Centre for Peace Reconciliation and Development to work for unity, healing and development.

Student Akeen Santo Deng from Juba Commercial Secondary School said South Sudan needed a Constitution that includes everybody.

He added that the government should now embark on building schools across the region.

Students from 13 schools participated in the two-hour procession thanking God for the referendum results.

The event was organized by Greater Equatoria, Bahr el Ghazal and Upper Nile Referendum Forum.
