A fifteen-year old Congolese old girl managed to escape from Ugandan rebels who kidnapped her in neighbouring DR Congo two weeks ago.

Helen Tumalu, daughter to Angelina Kuliya, was kidnapped together with three sisters and one brother in the family house in Abugo area, Dudu village in DR Congo near the border with South Sudan, Easter Radio reported.

Ms. Tumalu said through and interpreter that she escaped from the Lord’s Resistance Army after untying her hands while the rebels were at a distance.

She added that her sisters and brother also tried to escape but were caught and cut to death with pangas.

Ms Tumalu was found in Yei River County near the border with DR Congo by natives of Kirigba Boma.

Chief Simon Lokoro Lupe brought her this afternoon to the authorities of Yei River County for assistance.
