The GoSS vice president said today that his government has difficulties in collecting non-oil revenue at border points.

Riek Machar Teny told the participants in the private sector roundtable that in 2008 he led a team of seven ministers to the borders to assess how much revenue money was lost to private collectors.

He revealed the system they tried to put in place to boost tax collection at the borders did not work.

Dr. Machar added that the system put in place to collect taxes through the banks also failed to work.

Dr. Machar made these comments today during the launch of the private sector development programme for South Sudan.
