A member of Eastern Equatoria Assembly urged the media to concentrate on post referendum issues.
Joseph Lokodo Colombos, who chairs the parliamentary information committee, said the media have to enlighten citizens on issues likely to happen, Emmanuel Radio reported. He added that citizens have the right to access information on events that take place in other states to make proper decisions in the new nation building.
Mr. Lokodo stressed that it is the role of the media to educate the people and let them understand the responsibilities in nation building.
He added that the media should let the community know the roles of the three arms of government and other actors in service delivery such as teachers and, health workers.
Mr. Lokodo’s advice follows a public outcry over poor service delivery, unmet expectation and resources distribution in South Sudan while the region heads to independence.
