SEPARATION PROCESS TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE RUNNING SMOOTHLY, SAYS VICE-PRESIDENT

The process of separation between North and South Sudan geared towards full independence is running smoothly.

GoSS Vice president Riek Machar Teny told yesterday the participants at a media forum that North Sudan is disengaging gradually from South Sudan paving the way for the establishment of the new state.

Dr. Machar said that northern troops serving in the Joint Integrated Units and national security have already left South Sudan and Southerner diplomats serving in the national representations were already back in Juba.

Dr. Machar added that the National Assembly dropped all 54 provisions related to the South and the fate of Southern MPs in the House is being negotiated.

He asid there are already 11 subcommittees in place to prepare the celebrations of independence in South Sudan involving political parties, civil society and faith based groups.
