LAND COMMISSION HANDS IN LAND POLICY TO GOVERNMENT

Southern Sudan Land Commission this morning handed in to the GoSS ministry of Legal Affairs the completed Land Policy draft.

Robert Ladu Luki who chairs the commission said the Land Policy is developed in line with the new guidelines and framework of the African Union, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mr. Ladu said that the Land Commission prepared the draft Land Policy after consultations with local authorities, traditional authorities and civil societies in all the ten Southern States.

Pascal Lodidi, chairperson of natural resource committee in the South Sudan Legislative Assembly, said the drafted Land Policy will be amended with the current Land Act after review.

He added that the Land Act was passed without a policy in place.

The Land Policy draft will be reviewed by the ministry of Legal Affairs and forwarded to the SSLA for amendments and approval.
