The youth at St. Theresa’s Parish in Rumbek plan to start a Catholic association to be guided by love under the name Vivid Association of the Catholic Committed Youth, VACCY for short.
Sr. Immacula Mwilu told the Rumbek diocesan assembly that the initiative came from the youth themselves after attending the second diocese youth congress two years ago, Good News Radio reported. She said VACCY members would shun gossip and practice forgiveness among other values.
Sr. Mwilu explained that the youth would strive to maintain a good relationship with God and among themselves through a monthly recollection and confession.
The sister said that to belong to VACCY one has to be at least twelve years old and undergo an orientation course before recruitment.
Sr. Mwilu said VACCY members are expected to attend Sunday Mass, visit the sick, the prisoners and be available for other general services.
The members would also engage in reading spiritual books, reciting at least one decade of the rosary daily, and choosing carefully their friends.
