A Didinga traditional chief and a university graduate were among the victims of the recent road ambush on Monday in Budi County that claimed five lives.

Budi county commissioner Charles Atul, who describes the incidence as unfortunate, told Emmanuel Radio that Chief Augustino Lokai of Kikilai was among the dead.

He added that late Lokai was adored for playing a great role during the liberation struggle.

A Khartoum University graduate identified as Meno and a civil servant identified as Monica were also among the people who died during the ambush near Old Forakasika along the Camp 15- Chukudum road.

Mr. Atul said most of the victims were great contributors to the development of the county and the state.

The Commissioner explains that the victims met their death on their way back to Chukudum after they had gone to collect dowry from Kapoeta in a car hired by an in-law.

Mr. Atul said the five people were killed while running away from the car.

The sixth passenger who remained in the vehicle survived the attack.

Mr. Atul condemned the attackers saying they denied the victims the opportunity of enjoying the benefits of the referendum.

He said SPLA soldiers were deployed in the county to hunt for the culprits and bring them to justice.

Mr. Atul said the driver of the car escaped unhurt but could not do much to rescue his passengers because the attackers shot at the tires.
