A leading SPLM official pointed fingers to Khartoum accusing the North to be behind armed rebellions in south Sudan, including George Athor’s attack in Fangak.
SPLM secretary-general Pagan Amum told the press in Juba that North Sudan is financing and arming groups in Upper Nile, Unity and Western Bahr el Ghazal states.He added that Mr. Athor was receiving weapons from Khartoum in his rebellion against the government of South Sudan.
Mr. Amum said 197 people were killed in Mr. Athor’s forces massacre of Fangak, last week.
He added that the government wants to reconcile with all armed groups and welcome them into an inclusive transition in South Sudan.
Mr. Amum warned those groups who do not accept to reconcile that GoSS and the SPLA have the means and the will to protect the people of South Sudan.
He added that South Sudan will defeat any plans to destabilize the new country.
Mr. Amum made these statements today during the Minister of Information’s media Forum.
