The SPLM is working to promote mutual interests of South and North Sudan as two independent states.
SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amum Akech told SSTV after the final referendum results were announced in Khartoum that his party sees mutual cooperation and peaceful co-existence with north Sudan.Mr. Amum explained that the SPLM and the NCP will work together to resolve the remaining outstanding CPA issues and the post-referendum arrangements.
The Southern Sudan Referendum Commission announced on Monday the final results of the vote of self-determination. Over 98.8 percent voted for secession.
