The Catholic Archbishop of Juba defended today that the new Constitution for South Sudan should be inclusive and the Church should be present in the review committee.
Archbishop Paolino Lokudu Loro said the current Constitution review committee needs the participation of everybody the new country is to run smoothly, Bakhita Radio reported.Archbishop Lukudu made this statement today during a two-day meeting for Church personnel on post-referendum arrangements that concluded today.
The meeting aimed at finding the role of the Catholic Church and its relation with the government in building the new country.
A education plan to welcome the number of pupils returning from the North and neighbouring countries was among the issues discussed by the participants who stressed the role of the Church in the ongoing South Sudan Constitution review.
Priests, religious and laity agreed on the importance of understanding the contents of the Constitution and share inputs with the government because the Church is closer to the grassroots than any other institution in the country.
