GoSS minister for Finance tabled today the 2011 Budget at the South Sudan Assembly titled “Ensuring smooth transition to independence.”
Minister David Deng Athorbei told lawmakers that the 2011Budget was prepared to ensure a smooth transition towards a strong and prosperous independent South Sudan.He added that the evolution can only be achieved by a self-reliant government working for peace and stability of the region.
Mr. Athorbei said the smooth transition is done through three key concerns: stability, better services provision and transition management.
He added that stability is required to build on gains achieved during the interim period while improved services should be strengthened to be able to deliver the benefits of independence to South Sudanese.
Mr. Athorbei mentioned that macro economic development should be one of the essential goals expected from the government to ensure growth of the private sector.
