A group of domestic observers said the referendum for South Sudan’s self-determination was credible.

Kush Centre for Cultural Studies said today the exercise was transparent, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mabith Ring Mabith, who heads the centre, told journalists this morning that his organisation observed that citizens were free to vote in the referendum without any harassments or intimidations from any side.

Mr. Ring called on the NCP and SPLM to respect the choice of the Southerners.

He also called on all political parties and the international community to respect and recognize the results of the referendum.

The Kush Centre for Cultural Studies is a South Sudanese indigenous institution that deployed 30 observes across the ten states of Southern Sudan during the referendum.
