Central Equatoria Ministry of Physical Infrastructure will soon demolish the houses that are close to roads in Kator residential area in an effort to widen streets.
Lewis Gore George is the Director General in the ministry; he told Bakhita Radio that his ministry is will only demolish houses built on the roads.Mr. Gore said his ministry is trying to widen the road coming from Gumbo Bridge to St. Theresa’s Cathedral because the Mahad Bridge is under reconstruction.
Heassured that those who built without papers from the government will be given plots somewhere in case their houses are demolished to widen the streets.
Three weeks ago, houses along the St. Theresa-Gumbo Bridge were marked with red crosses and the owners informed about demolitions.
The victims are not certain if any compensation will be given to them.
