Upper Nile University veterinary medicine students are refusing to attend lectures in Khartoum if they do not get free accommodation.

The university administration sent students from the faculty of veterinary medicine to Khartoum for few months because there are no laboratories available for practical lectures in Malakal campus.

John Wol Augustino, from the students’ association, told Voice of Love that it was very difficult for students to stay in Khartoum because their families came to the south.

He said the students will go to Khartoum only if they get food, accommodation and transport allowances.

Student Andrea Deng Chol said many Southerners returned to the South and he did not feel very comfortable to go back to Khartoum.

Ojok Marcello Claudio appealed to the government to grant the accommodation for the students while they stay in Khartoum.

The practical lectures for veterinary medicine started on Sunday in Khartoum with some 30 students from northern Sudan.
