The Catholic Bishop of Rumbek said he was worried about the way returnees have been received, particularly in Rumbek, terming it “a tremendous concern.”

Bishop Caesar Mazzolari told Good News Radio that the Church reached out to help the returnees by hosting them temporarily at its school premises in Rumbek.

He said he was worried because returnees were being reunited very slowly with their families.

There are 800 returnees in Comboni School waiting to be taken to their final destination.

Bishop Mazzolari appealed to both government and the nongovernmental organizations to work together to ensure that the returnees are reunited with their families and to provide them with water, food and hospitality.

Last week, Lakes State Governor Chol Tong Mayay said many returnees who worked in the industry could face unemployment because the state does not have factories.
