Lakes Governor expressed concerns about the integration of returnees into the community.

Chol Tong Mayay told Good News Radio that the returnees are coming from urban settings are experience professionals expecting job opportunities that may not be available in the State.

Eng. Tong said that the returnees who are teachers and nurses will easily be integrated but those who worked in industry do not have any factories in the state to employ them.

He added that his government appealed to the international community to assist in integrating the returnees.

The Governor said vulnerable groups, including elderly and children without parents, were taken care of by NGOs.

Eng. Tong added that integration of returnees was not easy, saying it is a process that will take two to three years.

Lakes State has received close to 4,000 returnees from Northern Sudan, arriving to the State by land, air and river.
