The voting process for self-determination of South Sudan is going well, said a referendum officer.

Benansio Aban Mojowk is the chief officer in Nahdi Umal polling centre in Malakal. He told Voice of Love that voters were casting their votes in a peaceful manner and the turnout was big.

Mr. Aban said that many voters waited in long lines patiently without any bad reaction towards officials and others.

He added that more than 900 people voted each day in the centre.

Mr. Aban said that the polling officials have special consideration for disabled, old and pregnant women.

He added that every registered voter has chance to vote including the blind.

Asha Mohamed Ajak, a domestic observer from the Women Civil Society, said the voting exercise was taking place without disturbances or threats.

Ajang Dau, a voter waiting in a long line for two days, said that he was very happy to participate in the referendum and decide his future as a citizen in southern Sudan.

Mr. Ajang appealed to southerners to turn up for voting saying that the one week polling was short.
