GOVERNOR REASSURES OF SECURE POLLING IN EASTERN EQUATORIA

The governor of Eastern Equatoria reassured residents of a secure atmosphere during the referendum polling days.

Louis Lobong Lojore made the assurance yesterday at Freedom Square in Torit during the launch of the referendum vote in the state, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Mr. Lobong said the State High Referendum Committee officials, observers, monitors and the entire citizens should conduct their duties without fear.

Mr. Lobong said the referendum vote launching event was organized to let people know that the exercise was ready and nothing would disrupt the process.

He added that the Referendum authorities from Khartoum to the state were prepared for the long awaited event.

UN representatives, international and local monitors and observers together civil society organizations and individuals attended the launch.
