A women’s organization conducted a one-day civic education training for women in Yei River County.
Mary Kiden is an independent member of Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly and a representative of South Sudan Women Concerns. She told Easter Radio that she went to Yei to train women in the technical part of voting and not to campaign for any option.
Ms. Kiden said that she is quite sure that if all women turn up to vote during the referendum they will achieve the nation they long for and determine the fate of South Sudan.
Ms. Kiden urged women to cook on Saturday evening in order to be free to queue and vote on Sunday and Monday.
She asked women to bring cassava, potatoes and water to the referendum centres to share with other people while they wait to cast their vote.
About 100 women were trained in the practical aspects of voting.
