The final number of registrants for the self-determination referendum stands at 3.9 million voters.
Chan Reec Madut, who heads the Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau, told the press this afternoon that 3.7 million registered in south Sudan, more than 160 thousand in north Sudan and over 60 thousand in the eight countries where registration took place.
Justice Reec added that 52 percent of the registrants are women.
The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal. For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
