The Chairperson of the Southern Sudan Human Rights Commission today welcomed the statement made by the president of the republic earlier in the week that he would support South Sudan’s independence if separation wins the vote.
Talking to SCR News, Lawrence Korbandy said the statement reassures south Sudanese especially those in the north of their safety.Mr. Korbandy added that the statement takes away the panic and fear planted into southerners by statements from senior NCP members which passed a negative message.
The President of the Republic on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to support an independent Southern Sudan if it chooses secession in the upcoming referendum.
