Health authorities said yesterday in Juba that no case of yellow fever was registered so far in South Sudan.
Uganda is fighting to contain an outbreak of yellow fever in the border with South Sudan that has killed forty five and left close to two hundred under medical care, Bakhita Radio reported.John Lagu, Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response at GoSS ministry of Health told the press yesterday that health authorities are taking preventive measures to avert the spread of the disease into the region.
Dr. Lagu explained that health officials will check on travellers at border posts with Uganda to take the necessary measures.
Dr. Lagu advised citizens to protect themselves from mosquito bites by wearing protective cloths, sleeping under treated mosquito nets and destroying all breeding sites for mosquitoes within and around their houses.
