The Apostolic Administrator of Malakal catholic diocese told the faithful that the night in which Christ was born brought peace and freedom from heaven to earth.

Monsignor Roko Taban Mousa said that this Christmas was very particular for the people of Southern Sudan because of the referendum on the self-determination, Voice of Love reported.

Msgr. Taban asked the Catholic community to use the same unity and strength they shared in the Eucharist to determine their future and to create an independent entity.

Msgr. Taban criticised those in the North who say an independent Sudan will be at war with itself.

The apostolic administrator said this kind of talk is rubbish.

He added Southern Sudanese are not animals to be always fighting each other.

Msgr. Taban said that the separation of South Sudan is unavoidable because it is the will of its people.

Msgr. Taban told the crowd at the Christmas Mass that that the freedom they want is the one they will vote for at the referendum.

The apostolic administrator of Malakal appealed to the faithful to turn up collectively and vote peacefully during the referendum.
