OVER 1000 PUPILS SIT FOR PRIMARY LEAVING EXAMS IN EASTERN EQUATORIA

Over 1000 pupils are sitting since yesterday for their Primary Leaving Exams in Eastern Equatoria State.

State Minister for Education Lopuke Lotyam officially declared the start of the exams in the state.

Mr. Lotyam told Emmanuel Radio that there were 45 returnee candidates for Arabic pattern from Khartoum among the pupils taking the exams.

The minister added that the education authorities reintroduced the Arabic pattern earlier in the year in Eastern Equatoria.

Mr. Lotyam said there was a huge improvement in education with more 635 candidates taking their exams this year, including more 92 girls.

The minister urged the candidates to take courage while undertaking their exams.

Mr. Lotyan added that the final exam was similar to other tests they had been taking during their studies.

The examination began yesterday with 1132 candidates in all the 15 centres across the state. Over 250 are girls, less than a quarter of the pupils.
