More than three hundred returnees arrived in Rumbek on Friday from Northern Sudan.
Sothern Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) state headquarter field officer Santino Manguak told Good News Radio that the returnees were assisted by the commission and some UN agencies.Mr. Manguak said SSRRC was working with World Food Programme (WFP), ACROSS and other aid agencies are verifying the returnees.
He added that WFP is providing the returnees with food ration for three months while other agencies assist the returnees with non food items.
James Madit Matueny from ACROSS Peace Economy Project said the agency is collecting the correct data from the returnees to prepare a place to accommodate them in Rumbek town.
Mr. Madit added that ACROSS would provide medical assistance to the returnees.
Mr. Madit said the World Health Organization would start vaccinating the returnee children immediately to prevent any disease outbreak in the camp.
Lakes state is still expecting more returnees from Northern Sudan.
