The World Bank said today that it spent 400 million dollars out of the 500 million contributed since 2005 to the Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) for south Sudan.

South Sudan World Bank manager, Lawrence Clark, told the press that the funds were used mostly for recovery and rehabilitation projects in south Sudan including building of schools, health centres, water supply systems, expanding roads and financing women’s small businesses during the last four years.

Mr. Clark said that funds from MDTF paid for the construction of over 510 kilometres of roads linking Juba to other state capitals.

The MTDF, which was planned to end in June 2011, was extended to June 2012 so that its on-gong projects can be concluded.
