GoSS ministry of Health announced that it is preparing the final exams to free nursing students of delays from the National Examination Board in Khartoum.

The last nurses’ course following the Khartoum curriculum ended in March but the authorities have been postponing the final exams.

Chuol Giek Nyuot is the Director of Human Resources at the GoSS ministry of Health. He told SCR News that Khartoum refused set a date for Juba and Torit nursing students to sit for their final certification exams.

Mr. Giek said that the ministry of Health decided to set its own exam to free the students that stayed in school for about five years.

Mr. Giek assured upcoming students that GoSS developed a new curriculum and his ministry would begin a new chapter next year with immediate effect to make sure nursing institutions under GoSS live up to the requirements.

Mr. Giek pointed out that most of the trainees were wound cleaners and dressers who were eventually enrolled into nursing classes.

He said the ministry will make sure that in the future competent students are registered as nursing students.

Torit and Juba Teaching Hospital student nurses were not given certification exams from Khartoum since the signing of the CPA.
