The government started rebuilding what used to be called the school for blind in Rejaf to accommodate also children with hearing problems.
GoSS Minister for Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Agnes Kwaje Lasuba, announced today that the rehabilitation of the school has already started.The school built in the eighties was destroyed by the civil war.
Ms. Kwaje added that the education facility will have space for up to 350 blind or deaf children from the ten states of South Sudan.
She added that the ministry is facing some budget constraints to accelerate the works.
Peter Sokole, an adviser to the Minister of Gender and first principle of the school, told journalists that the fence and the foundations for nine classrooms were already done.
Mr. Sokole added that the works would resume as soon as GoSS Ministry for Finance released funds.
Ms. Kwaje said that the school for blind and deaf has so far graduated ten students.
Four women and six men finished their university studies with another nine students are under graduate.
