Two candidates to the seat of Unity State governor in April’s election have buried their war axes and made peace ahead of the referendum.

Governor Taban Deng Gai and his opponent Angelina Teny were reconciled last week through the mediation of GoSS Vice President Riak Machar Teny.

The Chairperson of the Peace Committee in the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly, Reverend Mathew Mathiang, told Sudan Radio Service that the reconciliation cooled down the tension that rose after the elections and claimed some lives when Mr. Deng was announced the winner of the race.
