The Catholic Archbishop of Juba warned citizens who refused to register or intend not to vote that they are not working towards a peaceful referendum in South Sudan.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro made this warning earlier in the week while addressing the attendance at a multi-faith prayer service for peace in Nyakuron Cultural Centre, Bakhita Radio reported.

Archbishop Lukudu warned those who are boycotting registration and the vote that they are against a peaceful plebiscite on the future of Sudan.

Archbishop Lukudu prayed to God to do justice against those who intend to manipulate the referendum outcome, because they are acting against His will.

Archbishop Lukudu said the process of the referendum is not what he called political football.

He added that God is in the choice Southerner will make through their vote.

Archbishop Lukudu concluded that God is present in this referendum process, whether in unity or secession, and the final result represents God’s will for the Sudan.
