The referendum bureau received a supply of registration books from Khartoum in order to solve the shortage of material at many referendum centres in South Sudan.

Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau spokesman Aleu Garang Aleu told SCR News that 240 registration books arrived from Khartoum and all centres in the South resumed voter registration.

Mr. Garang added that the books should be enough to register even the returnees who are arriving from the North.

Mr. Garang appealed to women to exercise their right and register despite the many things they have to do at home.

He urged husbands to encourage their wives to register, stressing that all Southern Sudanese have the same rights given by the CPA.

In the past week voter enrolment was suspended at many referendum centres due to accute shortage of registration materials.
