Investment in information communication technologies would improve southern Sudan’s economic development.

This is the thesis Babacar Ndiaye, a Senegalese that headed the African Development Bank, presented to participants at the Telecom Conference that ended in Juba yesterday.

Mr. Ndiaye said information communication technologies (ICT) could result to a measurable economic growth and improvement in business and other economic sub-sectors.

Mr. Ndiaye added that increased use of mobile phones in Africa improved many countries and transformed lives, including those of poor farmers.

He said that African children exposed to ICT could compete on equal grounds with youths in other developing countries.

The conference was the first ever held by the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organization in Southern Sudan.
