Registration in some parts of south Sudan is being affected by long queues, harvesting and lack of voter education.

This is the assessment of SPLM Deputy Secretary General for the Southern Sector, Anne Itto after a three-day tour across South Sudan.

Dr. Itto told the press today in Juba that citizens complained about long queues to register at Referendum Centres in big towns and villages.

She added that farmers do not have time to waist in queues.

Dr. Itto noted citizens are confusing the referendum with the April elections due to lack of civic education.

Dr. Itto added that registration coincided with the harvesting season in most parts of south Sudan and it has kept people away from referendum centres.

Dr. Itto explained that most eligible students in East Africa do not have a chance to register because they are at school.
