A Torit parish priest urged parents to baptize their children, saying the future of the church depends on new born babies.

Fr. Martin Madrara made the call at Our Lady of Assumption church following baptism of 66 infants on Saturday, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Fr. Madrara said the babies were friends of Jesus and the future of the Church.

Fr. Madrara encouraged Christian parents to bring new-borns for baptism immediately so that they join the Church and get protection from Christ.

Fr. Madrara says another mass-baptism will be conducted before Christmas. He urged parents to register their babies in order to prepare for the celebration.

He asked also neighbours to o encourage parents to bring their babies for the sacrament.

Fr. Madrara explained that Baptism was the first sacrament to be followed by the Eucharist and Confirmation that strengthen Christians to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
