HYGIENE PRESENTS BIGGER CHALLENGE TO PUBLIC HEALTH

A clinic medical doctor said poor hygiene was the major cause for diseases in South Sudan.

Joseph Okurut runs a licensed private clinic in Juba. He told SCR News that rubbish, dirty water and dust were the major environmental elements responsible for the increase in diseases in Juba.

Dr. Okurut said also that a better socio-economic environment will bring in new diseases like hypertension, diabetes and heart problems.

Mr. Okurut pointed out that malaria and bacterial infections from dirty water were the main causes of illness in Juba.

Health issues are one of the major problems affecting the people of southern Sudan.
