An inter-faith group is seeking media support to resound its campaigns on HIV Aids awareness.
Sudan Council of Churches deputy secretary general told journalists yesterday in Juba that Churches played an important role in the fight against HIV and Aids in South Sudan.Sudan Aid coordinator Lino Baba urged the media houses to support the Churches’ campaign and disseminate their messages to curb the spread of the virus.
Mr. Baba said stigma and discrimination, safe sex practices, testing and counselling were areas of prevention the Churches wanted to talk about.
The first case of Aids in South Sudan was identified in 1986. Currently there are over 300 thousand people affected by HIV Aids in Southern Sudan and another 3.8 million at risk.
