The referendum commission adopted yesterday the symbols to be used in the ballot papers to identify the vote for unity and for separation.
Chan Reec Madut, the head of Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau, told the public at the launch of voter registration today in Juba that Southern Sudan Referendum Commission finally agreed on voting symbols.Justice Reec said two hands joined or clasping represent unity while an upright waving hand stands for separation.
Justice Reec urged Southerners to register and take part in the referendum even if it requires personal sacrifices.
He added that citizens should behave well before international and local observers for the referendum to be recognized as free, fair and transparent.
Voter Registration for the referendum starts on Monday and goes until the end of the month.
Citizens will vote on the centres where their registered.
