Don Bosco FM began yesterday its local news service to broaden the information broadcasted daily to listeners in Tonj and other Warrap state localities.
Fr Cyril Odia, the director of the station, explained that the move was necessary to solidify the news desk that has reporters in Wau, Mapel, Rumbek and Kuajok.Fr. Odia said Don Bosco FM produces local news in Dinka, Luo and Bongo weekly in addition to the daily SCR news bulletins from Juba and Vatican radio.
He added that news were a very important component in Don Bosco, a community radio focusing on the youth.
Don Bosco FM started broadcasting February 5, 2010.
Recently it increased its broadcasting time from eight to 16 hours. It is on air from 6 AM to 10 PM the night daily.
