REFERENDA PART OF BISHOPS’ ASSEMBLY AGENDA, SAYS CHURCH OFFICIAL

The referenda on self-determination for the people of South Sudan and Abyei will be part of the agenda for the bishops’ assembly in Rumbek.

Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro of Juba told reporters before his departure to Rumbek, that although the bishops did not define the agenda for the plenary assembly yet, they will discuss means to prepare the people of God on the upcoming referenda.

Archbishop Lukudu explained that the Church was deeply engaged in the referendum process through prayers, enlightening and preparing the citizens in Sudan for the referenda.

Archbishop Lukudu concluded that the Church was guiding the preparation for the referenda though the 101 Days of Prayer for Peace because it takes the referenda very seriously.
